Starting a path to spiritual growth is easy. Continuing that growth is the challenge. Many people have different reasons for wanting to change their lives. Simply knowing that change is possible is growth in itself. You should feel very proud of that awareness. Awareness is the key to all growth. Have you ever met someone that seemed to be living in a movie? They appear to never question life and it's direction. To be one of the growing population searching for answers is truly a gift. Don't ever stop wanting to know more! I was always told that I "thought too much". Being an over-thinker has its advantages... Trust me!
For now, we focus on awakening the mind. For only 10 minutes a day focus on your mind. You can just spend that time realizing that you have thoughts. Maybe you can go deeper and start taking note of what those thoughts are. For the first two weeks of development. Increase the time spent on your mind. This is a devotional activity that will start to pay off quickly so bear with me. Keep a journal; write down everything that you discover, become aware of, and things that you want to know more about.
A simple meditation to keep in "mind" while practicing this step is this: "I am aware of my mind, I am aware of my thoughts, I am in control of my ideas, thinking, and emotions." That may sound silly to anyone just learning of meditation. Meditation is focusing on an idea or concept. Allowing yourself to not think about the business of the day is hard. I challenge you to gift yourself with 10 minutes a day! That is truly all it takes to start a path of great mind-awareness and change. Find a cozy spot in your house to make your own. Decorate it with things that make you feel happy, alive, and proud. Tell others in your family that you would like that place respected. It is yours. We all deserve to have a spot on this earth where we can feel perfect. This place can always come later when you have developed your skills further.
The ten minutes can occur anytime of the day. In the shower, on a walk, going to the bathroom, while shaving, or right before bed when its quiet. In the first few days you may want to break up the 10 minutes into 2 sections. That is completely okay. To be honest, most people find it difficult to focus on anything longer than 30 seconds. So be easy on yourself. However, keep in mind that this is a practice that will lead to great things! HUGE things that will become so exciting to you!
It may not take you two weeks to realize what I want you to discover. When you feel that you have discovered something. Come back to visit me.
I am excited to share my growth and self-discovery with you. I wish you Love and Light!
